Laughing Lily
Today, the three of us were sitting on the couch. Justin and Lily were "talking" and everytime Justin laughed, there was no doubt about it...Lily was laughing back. I kid you not, this went on for a LONG time. Luckily, I had just downloaded some pictures so the camera was right on the coffee table to capture the moment. The video is a bit shaky--I was trying very hard not to laugh at the two of them. Baby laughs are so funny!

Cardiologist update
Well...no echo today. No probes today. The cardiologist checked her blood pressure, height (63 centimeters-almost 25 inches) and her weight (10 pounds 10 ounces!!!). Then he listened to her heart and said he can still hear the VSD. Since everything seems to be going well, he doesn't need to see her again until November. Justin asked about the time frame that would be given for the hole to close on its own before we would begin to talk about other interventions (surgery) and, much to our surprise, the cardiologist said at least 5 years. Much longer than we expected.
In the end, we were in and out within 45 minutes and NOBODY cried!!
Let's hope next week's appointments go as well! We have two next Thursday.

Day to Day Fun with Lily
Now, this one is for you Marcia since you wanted to know what "tummy time" looks like. Here is Lily Anne working out on her tummy. You will notice that she has but one goal...to try to scoot herself onto the carpet where the traction is better for her to roll over. Ahhh, but her efforts will be squelched in the end when Daddy scoots her back.
Of course, the quality would be better if I would actually use the camcorder we have instead of the video function on my digital camera (but that is the one I always have handy)! Oh well!

The Power of Photo Editing
Playing around with photo editing can be fun and create some interesting effects. I did this with Picassa. But I tell you, if I actually took the time to learn the more powerful program I have on my computer (Photoshop Elements) ...I'd be dangerous!

A Newborn's Converation With God
Now, why do you want to make a girl cry so early in the morning??
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A Newborn's Conversation with God
A baby asked God, "They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?"
God said, "Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you."
The child further inquired, "But tell me, here in heaven I don't have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy."
God said, "Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you. And you will feel your angel's love and be very happy."
Again the small child asked, "And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don't know the language?"
God said, "Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak."
"And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?"
God said, "Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray."
"Who will protect me?"
God said, "Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life."
"But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore."
God said, "Your angel will always talk to you about Me and will teach you the way to come back to Me, even though I will always be next to you."
At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from Earth could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, "God, if I am to leave now, please tell me my angel's name."
God said, You will simply call her, "Mom."
She's getting so big!
It is amazing what a difference 10 weeks makes! She is starting to fill up her swing better and her color is not that lovely jaundiced pumpkin!Our appointment on Tuesday went ok. We really didn't learn anything new, but did get some clarification. We are learning more about the human body than I ever wanted to know. I'm still not ready to share with the world all that we know, but thank your for the prayers (and patience).
In other news, Lily has MASTERED rolling over from her tummy to back. It is neat to see her intentionally putting her arms in the correct position and giving the necessary kicks to flip herself over. Now, there is a little problem with this newly acquired skill...it makes tummy time next to impossible! Now when we put her on her tummy, within a minute, she rolls over onto her back (and is just so proud of herself for doing so). So now tummy time consists of me putting her on her tummy, Lily rolling over to her back, me rolling her over back to her tummy. Repeat this about a zillion times and you have it. Oh joy...Now, for a new little trick (I think it was more of an "incidental" than anything else), but imagine my surprise when I walk in to check in on Lily this morning after hearing her grunt for a bit on the monitor and THIS is what I find...
Yep, somehow this little girl flipped herself from her back onto her belly while completely swaddled...oh, and in these pictures, she is SOUND ASLEEP. I have my own theory on how this happened. You see...the grunts were most likely due to, well, um, let's just say Lily was doing some "business." I have a feeling that in all the "commotion" she got her legs going and the momentum took her over the edge...literally. I do not want nor need a video monitor, but times like these I wish I had one!
Finally, this picture has a funny little story.
You see, Lily Anne has a tendency to spit up when I put her in the car seat which is just great because then I get to disassemble it later to wash it. So, I have started putting bibs on her to protect her clothes and the straps/strap covers. Anyhow, as I was clipping her in today, I had her bib flipped up so that I could get the straps just right and she looked so funny that I had to go and get the camera. As you can see by LA's face, she is not too thrilled with the torment. So, she got her revenge. As soon as I clicked the camera, she spit up...all over the seat. Yep, that's what I get for torturing my child!
First Waterfall
Lily Anne went to her first waterfall! The three of us drove up to Amicalola Falls yesterday. The weather was a little overcast, which was perfect for Lily. This next picture is a little washed out, but her eyes were so big at the sound of the falls!
The falls are in better shape than they have been in a while thanks to the rain we have had this spring. If you have never been to the falls, it is not a bad afternoon drive from our area and the falls are easily accessible (unlike some waterfalls we have visited).On another note, Lily Anne has an appointment tomorrow that I am really not looking forward to. If you don't mind, please say a prayer that we hear good things tomorrow. Thanks!
Lily's Bag of Tricks
So, we swaddle Lily in this special little contraption called a Swaddle Me. When used properly, the baby should look like this (no, this is not Lily):
HOWEVER, when someone (who shall remain nameless) fails to properly align the velcro fasteners, the baby can perform great escape feats and when her Mommy goes to get her out of her crib...this is what she finds (and YES, this is Lily):
Obviously not the poster child for the Swaddle Me product! I think this was a case of USER ERROR and a determined Houdini. She is very proud of herself when she escapes!
Trick #2:
Ok, so I hesitate posting this for fear that we will jinx ourselves, but guess who has slept from 9ish-5ish for about a week now? You got it...our little superstar! AND...in her own room for a couple of those nights.
Trick #3:
Guess who can roll over from her tummy to back...and guess who caught it on video this morning?!
