Feeding Tube Awareness :)
You might remember last January when I posted a couple of logos I had drawn to be used during Feeding Tube Awareness Week in February. What??? You don't remember? Then take a little trip down memory lane.
Well, a couple of months ago I was contacted by the founder of FeedingTubeAwareness.com and another "Tubie" mom who are working really hard to increase awareness and make the concept an official nonprofit. Well...they asked if the logo I created could be used as the official logo for Feeding Tube Awareness. Of course I said yes and now they are even selling clothing with the logo on it :)

Why not pick up one or two :) Shirts and sweatshirts are available at http://3elove.bigcartel.com/category/fta
After all, if you are reading this, you do love a cute little Tubie!

We're Moving!
About a week and a half ago, we closed on a new home. Before you ask--No, we did not sell the current one. We have decided to keep it as a rental property (which it is PERFECT for). Our new home is all of about 1.5 miles down the road from our current home, but in a different city and county. One of the "ideals" on our list as we shopped for homes was for us to be in the same county that I teach in--but NOT in the same school zone (I do NOT want to be "Mrs. Bannister at the pool!).
We lucked into finding a foreclosure that had only been on the market for a few days and decided it was the one for us. It needs a little love, but nothing that we can't handle. We have started doing some work already and will make our official move soon!

Disgusted
This is my blog and I am about to get up on my soapbox--because, well, it's my blog!
You have probably seen previews and commercials for the new Ryan Reynolds/Jason Bateman film coming out--"The Change Up." It's a "Freaky Friday" type of body switch movie between the two main characters who lead very different lives. A "no brainer" type of comedy in which you expect stupid humor and a predictable ending.
Well, apparently it is also a movie in which a choice was made for the character played by Ryan Reynolds to say (in reference to his friend's twin babies),
"Why aren't they talking? Are they retarded? This one looks a little Downsy."
Using the term "retarded" is bad enough...but "Downsy?" Are you serious???? I cannot even put into words how disturbed by this I am. Luckily, there are bloggers out there that are able to articulate their thoughts on this better than I am (click to read).
I am saddened and disgusted that this "joke" was seen as appropriate by the writers, producers and actors.
SHAME ON ALL OF YOU INVOLVED IN ANY WAY WITH THIS FILM!!
We will NOT be seeing your ignorant movie and I am not sure I can ever look at Ryan Reynolds in the same light again--he may not have written the line, but he chose to say it when it is NOT necessary to the "integrity" of the film.
Ok, I'm stepping off my soapbox for now--we'll be back to your regular reading of LA in all her adorable-ness soon!

Big Girl Backpack
It's back to school time in the Bannister house. Since LA is going to be in the "big girl" classroom in August, we have been practicing having her eat her mid day meals with her "big girl" backpack. The backpack is still big on her tiny frame, but she does quite well wearing it if she is sitting down (which is really better anyways for digestion).

Next, I just have to work on creating a cuter backpack. Black is so boring!
